The Lonely City

Anja, a young woman burdened by loneliness and a deep sense of not belonging—neither to her country nor to the people around her—finds herself working in a café, far from the life she once imagined. Amid her isolation, she begins to uncover the hidden lives of her co-workers, their stories rich with struggle and resilience, sparking in her a vision to capture their humanity through a documentary film. Yet this fragile sense of purpose is challenged by Gustav and his friends, who ridicule her project and urge her to abandon it, forcing Anja to confront her estrangement and decide whether to retreat further into her solitude or fight to claim her voice and her place in the world.
